Caught with our pants down...

We hate saying this like we hate cheap beer, but the Jabberwocky delivery has been delayed until late March.

We didn't anticipate the demand, ran out of stock, and we admit it, we suck. We are a small shop here and were, to be quite honest, completely unprepared for the demand since DirtDemo last year. We sold out of Jabberwockys in December and the '08 Bandersnatch sold almost 85% of stock in a month.

With several models currently in development, we've overextended our meager staff and will need a bit more time to get up to speed with all of the new Vassago offerings.

While this is good for business, it's bad for our customers. We are expanding our warehouse again and order quantities have been multiplied many times over to insure we can continue delivering Vassago goodness to the world and avoid the frustration of back orders.

Minnesota Cycling Federation awards Zach Stilwell

The Minnesota Cycling Federation had its awards banquet last night and Zach received a medal for 2nd place in the cyclocross rider of the year competition (15-18).

CONGRATULATIONS ZACH!

Zach had an awesome 2007 season - riding his Jabberwocky for cross season. We're extremely proud of all the races he completed and the personal goals he accomplished. We're definitely looking forward to 2008 and having Zach riding our frames!

We'll be seeing his newly customized Jabberwocky soon.

The Bastard made us do it

After two server crashes, a load of emails and a one hour meeting of Vassago minds we decided to pull the blog entry entitled "You can't patent bike geometry!".

While we have never been a company to shy from controversy, we voted and decided the article was not an appropriate news entry, but more of an Arrogant Bastard induced rant based on late night shop talk.

Yea, we love designing and riding bikes. We also love craft brew sessions and shit talking. Admittedly the shop is the place for that and not our website.

ChupaCabra in a slow gestation

We want to thank all of the people inquiring about the ChupaCabra project. The interest in this bike is what will keep the project alive. For now we have pulled an official release date as we make room for the OptimusTi in the production schedule and decide just what place in the family the ChupaCabra is destined for.

Performance and weight-wise, it's hard to justify the current ChupaCabra when compared to the Jabberwocky. So far we can save just shy of 1/2 lb off the frame, before compromising strength and durability, which is something we don't do here.

All Vassago models are built to be beaten like a red headed step child, and come back for more. There are lots of feather-weight steel 29ers out there, but cracked tubes are also a bit to common for our taste.

This is why the OptimusTi project stepped in to fill the place of a light weight, race platform with sliding dropouts. Titanium tubing allowed us to exceed all international CEN strength tests while maintaining a 3.5 lb frame.

That said, the ChupaCabra shall not die. It will be "better faster, stronger. We have the technology".

But we want to hear from YOU, the riders, the racers, the customers. What do you want to see next from a high end steel Vassago hard tail?

Corporate focus groups run by foreign executives can chomp choad. We're the little guy, so we can build a frame that our actual customers want to see. So share your wish list. If enough of you agree, we WILL make it.

Send your ChupaCabra dreams to chupa_lust@vassagocycles.com.

Vassago Cycles signs 'em up!

In addition to our own Team Vassago riders, we happily offer our support to two kick ass teams for the 2008 season. Both of these teams bring different attributes and are a great reflection of Vassago Cycles and our beliefs - Ride, Drink, Repeat!

Team Addictive - There are a lot of you out there that know of Hodge and Cody from Addictive Cycles. They called us up and requested a demo bike to try out...within a week of riding they made the change that all Addictive Cycles Team Riders would ride Vassago. We are overwhelmed with the responses we have received from the Atlanta/Athens area of Georgia and the great team we have signed on. Addictive Cycles is also known for their unbiased support at Southeast races and all the help they provide to the biking community.

Team Half Way There - This team is a mix of active military and are often deployed around the world at various times of the year. All riders hail from Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area. They bike, run, paddle, and navigate! First race signed up with us will be The Most Horrible Thing Ever run by Pisgah Productions.

Welcome aboard everyone. We're excited to have you!

Vassago Cycles teams up with Crank Brothers

Crank Brothers and Vassago Cycles team up for the 2008 season. They're hot and they're sexy.....no we're not talking about our team riders (although they are hot and sexy) we're talking about the products at Crank Brothers.

Vassago Team Riders will be enjoying all Crank Brothers products throughout the race season and will be able to provide feedback of the product through their blog sites.
