ChupaCabra in a slow gestation

We want to thank all of the people inquiring about the ChupaCabra project. The interest in this bike is what will keep the project alive. For now we have pulled an official release date as we make room for the OptimusTi in the production schedule and decide just what place in the family the ChupaCabra is destined for.

Performance and weight-wise, it's hard to justify the current ChupaCabra when compared to the Jabberwocky. So far we can save just shy of 1/2 lb off the frame, before compromising strength and durability, which is something we don't do here.

All Vassago models are built to be beaten like a red headed step child, and come back for more. There are lots of feather-weight steel 29ers out there, but cracked tubes are also a bit to common for our taste.

This is why the OptimusTi project stepped in to fill the place of a light weight, race platform with sliding dropouts. Titanium tubing allowed us to exceed all international CEN strength tests while maintaining a 3.5 lb frame.

That said, the ChupaCabra shall not die. It will be "better faster, stronger. We have the technology".

But we want to hear from YOU, the riders, the racers, the customers. What do you want to see next from a high end steel Vassago hard tail?

Corporate focus groups run by foreign executives can chomp choad. We're the little guy, so we can build a frame that our actual customers want to see. So share your wish list. If enough of you agree, we WILL make it.

Send your ChupaCabra dreams to chupa_lust@vassagocycles.com.
